LET THE WATER FLOW

FROM YOUR HANDS...

Mendabadi is a village of 1200 people in the northern region of West Bengal. The source of water for this village is an open well. The water gets muddy in monsoon, and dries up in the scorching heat of summer. Situated in a malaria infested area, the well becomes the home of the mosquitoes and brings all kinds of diseases for people who drink from it. People do not have access to safe drinking water.

A bore well could be a solution in providing continuous water supply through all seasons and safe drinking water too. When we provide a bore well, it is for all the people irrespective of their caste and religion. That is why we call it Friendship Well.

Would you help us provide a Friendship Well in Mendabadi?

It will cost $1500 inclusive of the cost for drilling, pipes, the hand pump, etc. Water will flow from your generous hands to the people of this villages.

Donate on line now. Donors will receive a photo of the bore well and a 'Thank You' letter from the villagers.  The bore well will also have the inscription of the donor if so desired.

RELIEF TO THE HOMELESS

The eruption of violence against Christians in Orissa last year was so huge and diabolic in nature that at least 78,000 had to flee their homes while their houses were set on fire. What’s more? Over 1100 churches and numerous Christian institutions were systematically attacked and desecrated. The plight of pregnant women and little children was awful. Their miseries were untold, needs were acute and the conditions very traumatic.

It would be helpful for our readers to know that when Christians fled into jungle, they did not run with their check books and credit cards. They did not even have a bank account. Most people are from the untouchable community. They are poor, menial laborers. The persecution has further impoverished them. Everything they ever had was either looted or burnt during the recent riots. Some of their houses were built on government land.

When such homes were destroyed, the owners did not get compensation.

People are now returning to their villages. But when they do, they return to absolute nothing, to start their lives all over again from the charred remains of their homes.

AIM ASIA along with their partner agencies took a serious note of the situation and designed a 7- point program to help the desperate victims.

TO MOBILIZE PRAYER WORLD WIDE. We requested our friends around the world to mobilize prayers for the persecuted Church. A great volume of prayer rose to the throne of the Most High on behalf of our suffering brethren.

TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY RELIEF. 1770 families were identified for emergency relief. Each family was given rice, clothes, utensils, mats, mosquito nets, toiletries, etc.

TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO 100 NATIVE WORKERS. These men have not just lost their homes but also their congregations. Sunday worship has been abandoned for over 60 weeks. The praise planters needed support until the congregations were reorganized and were able to support their shepherd. 100 native workers and the widows who lost their husband are being provided with a monthly support since December 2008 regularly.

TO PROVIDE BIBLES TO THE PERSECUTED. All Christian homes burnt have lost Bibles as well. Christians thirsted for the word until the amazing grace of Jesus made the Word available in plenty in all the affected areas.

TO RELOCATE CHILDREN FOR SAFETY & EDUCATION. Many children were afraid of going to school in the riot-hit areas. Such children had to be relocated. We were able to relocate 200 children along with their families to a safer area so the children could join a school system to study with no interruption and stay happily.

TO PROVIDE FRIENDSHIP WELLS. The Friendship Wells are provided in villages where there is acute water problem. When we drill a well, we invite everyone to take water from it irrespective of their religion and caste. In the last one year, we have provided bore wells in 25 villages.

TO PROVIDE METAL SHEETS FOR ROOFING. Now that monsoon is passed, people who fled their homes are now returning and making every possible effort to build their homes. We want to be able to provide metal sheets for roof when they lay the foundation and raise walls for their houses. In partnership with each family we want to be able to help them with $250 for every house.

They need our help. Please pray for them and support them in whatever way you can to raise them to a life of dignity and strength.
