SAI KRISHNA BECAME A

VICTIM OF AIDS.

HIS HEALTH FAILED.

WIFE AND SON DIED

OF THE SAME DISEASE.

FEAR OF DEATH

AND PHYSICAL

SUFFERING MADE

LIFE MISERABLE.

The picture depicts Sai Krishna, receiving new clothes from AIMASIA cofounder Suchitra Lohara. Tears diffused his eyes when he saw new clothes: “No one gave me any thing new in the last 8 years.”

Sai Krishna used to work in a factory and live happily with his wife Sashirekha and two sons. But extra marital affairs 10 years ago landed him in this dreaded disease.

The most unfortunate thing was all his family members had contracted HIV positive by the time Sai Krishna discovered the disease in him. He cried and was remorseful but it was too late.

When the villagers came to know about it, they excommunicated them. Sai lost his job. The family had to move out into a small hut under a mango tree outside the village.

His wife and his elder son died two years back. His younger son is very ill while Sai Krishna himself is waiting for death to call him at any day.

Sai Krishna receives help from AIMASIA every month for their sustenance.

It is estimated there are 500,000 people in India today effected by AIDS and are suffering like Sai Krishna. A Herculean effort would be required to arrest the spread of HIV, to provide medical attention, to bring awareness and to rehabilitate the victims.

AIMASIA organizes Health Camps, provides free medicine and treatment to poor patients, medical attention to those affected by Thalassemia and nutritious milk to malnourished slum children.
