Grief
and poverty were our companions!
We were broken and despaired. We
knew we didn’t have a future. But
when we came into Immanuel Home,
the dark clouds began to disappear.
Our grief turned into joy and now
we see smiles all the way. All because
of a compassionate friend who cared for us!!
Who
was this compassionate friend our children are talking about?Way back in 2000, an unassuming, quiet-natured man came to visit with us. He spoke little and observed more. Two years later, he wanted to help an orphanage with 60 girls. Some were orphans, some semi-orphans and others from destitute, broken homes. All were in desperate need.
His church considered this as the Macedonian call to come over and help. Every visit to the orphanage made the people of this church so involved that they left part of their hearts back in Hyderabad with the girls they loved so dearly.
They have invested 10 per cent of their building project to build the orphanages in India. All the buildings in Immanuel campus including the conference center are the outcome of their sacrificial giving.
It is amazing what a single church can do when her heart is aligned to the mission of Christ. Every year there was an increase of sponsorship as they witnessed the work progress. They are at the moment sponsoring 250 children (150 girls & 100 boys) making it the largest of our 14 orphanages.
If Kavita is working as a staff nurse in famous Heart Care hospital in Hyderabad, it is because of this church. If Balamani is studying engineering in Adilabad Engineering College, Madhavi, Rajani, Pramila and many others have joined the mainstream with various professions as dignifies individuals, it is because of the love that flowed down from Summit Church, 15,000 miles away on the other side of the world. Doug Corlew and his team of elders have become wonderful friends and partners.
Keeping the future the children in mind, they have purchased agriculture land to produce rice. This will cut dow
n the
overhead monthly expense when rice is produced and lead us a
step ahead toward self-supporting. Though we have a good strength to run a school of our own, it could not be done for several reasons. Now we think it is time. 2010 is all set, Lord willing, to see the inauguration of Immanuel High School where our children will study happily in the same campus without having to run through danger traffic and in hospitable people.
Immanuel Home needs your prayer.
