“IMMANUEL BOY'S HOME"
INAUGURATE AT JAIGAON

12 July 2010. An orphanage was inaugurated in Jaigaon at India-Bhutan border.

We at AIM ASIA have been praying for this opportunity to serve the people in this area for a very long time. We believe it is the Lord’s time now.

God has provided a good house for the orphanage. It is a rented facility and is good enough to accommodate all the children and the home parents. It has also got a big open space to have meetings and training programs. This could very well become a base for our work in North East and a safe haven for the destitute children. (By the way, the landlord who was present at the inauguration heard a report of our services to the poor and wanted to sell the property at a very low price of $30,000 though it is worth much more by the virtue of sharing international borders with Bhutan).

The simple inaugural service was held in the orphanage premises. Over three hundred local people gathered to witness 50 destitute children received. Most of these children come from families that work at tea gardens picking leaves 8 hours a day for a dollar and a half. They do not have a home to live in or a regular job to sufficiently fend for their needs. Sending their children to a school system is not something they could afford with their meager earning.

This benevolent program will not just build the lives of children but it will also greatly strengthen our endeavor in the region.

Thank you for your prayers.

“LUCY MORGAN SHOW AT
HEROES OF FAITH” SEMINAR

Lucy, a ninth grader and an extremely talented dancer from Greenville, was at the Heroes of Faith Seminar held in Hyderabad: 26-28 January 2010. Talents sometimes make a person proud and boastful. But gracious Lucy was ever willing and always available. She did all her performances to Christian songs and music played in the background. It was absolutely regaling and the audience was pleasantly surprised when she quickly learnt some Indian steps and danced to Hindi songs choreographed by dance teacher Leena.

Lucy became the center of attraction during those three days of conference. She too loved being a blessing to 150 men and women who had come out of a severe persecution. All of them have lost everything they had when the rioters terrorized them to leave their homes, then looted their belongings and set their houses on fire. There were three women among them whose husbands had been killed because they were not willing to recant their faith in Christ.

My dear friend and partner in the ministry David Goodnight lead a team of seven. The other men on the team were Pastor Ben Sigman, Pastor Carl Brannon, Mark Olson and his son Josh. Lucy's mother Ginny Morgan too was a part of the team and shared her heart with the afflicted community.

The conference began with a parade in the Immanuel campus. There were heaven-rent shouts of praise to the Lord, roof-raising worship and prayer. David, Ben and Carl ministered the word. They all dwelt on the Kingdom of Heaven. Ben Sigman is a Messianic Jew. It was great to hear his perspective on the Kingdom of Christ.

David gave a moving message at the concluding session. His message was based on Divine Yes. Drawing a few examples from the life of Stanley Jones, he challenged the gathering to remain committed to divine mission and the unshakable kingdom. There was the clear evidence the Spirit of God pervading the congregation; everybody was brought to his knees in a prayer of surrender to the Divine Yes.

There was a feet washing ceremony at the end. 9 men and 3 women were chosen to represent the entire body of the suffering church in Orissa. There were sobbing and tears as the overseas visitors washed their feet and prayed for them.

An offering was taken for 3 widows of the martyrs. The response of the audience was very generous. These dear women are being supported financially every month since last January.

Shirts and Saris were given away to all participants. They all received it with a flash of smile. We needed to see this joy on 1their faces after all the terrible hardships that they have gone through.

Thank you for your prayers.

CHRISTMAS FOR CHILDREN!

It is time again to eat some biryanis, and khichdi; some crispy Chaklis and Gulab Jamun! It is time to be away from school, and do some masti (fun)! It is time to play, sing, dance and celebrate!

Children like all of it, so do the adults. It will be a special occasion for the children of our Child Care Homes in India. A time that they so eagerly look forward to.

In fact, our celebration began in the Immanuel Campus in Hyderabad on November 21. We arranged a banquet and gave new clothes to all the 265 children and 12 House Parents. They sang songs, colored pictures, blew balloons, participated in story time and played games (even a kind of American Football, thanks to our coaches, Doug and Dennis). My, it was awesome time!

Our Hope Team has left for Chennapatna near Bangalore this week to spend time with the children of our Jehovah-Nissi Boys’ Home on December 12. The same team will be leaving for Orissa to celebrate with the children of Josiah & Bethany Home on December 16. Similar programs are being organized in all our 14 orphanages to share the joy with the children. In addition, a very special program is in the offing. The abandoned, outcast leprosy patients have caught our attention. Most people would not go near them or invite them into their homes. We believe, a disease should not keep them away from the joy. December 22 will be a unique day for all the leprosy patients enlisted with our project to participate in “Joy to the whole world” celebration. We will post some more pictures in our next bulletin.

23 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE POOR

The recently concluded Anniversary Celebrations & National Staff Conference brought together over 500 native workers to Hyderabad to commemorate God’s amazing faithfulness toward us during the past 23 years of our service to the poor and the down- trodden. The participants were a blend of native men and women engaged in literacy work, health care, childcare, leprosy service, etc., in different parts of India.

The mood was upbeat. The atmosphere was charged with great excitement and jubilation at the commencement parade. As the beating of the drums reached its crescendo amidst a thousand shouts of “alleluia” to declare the wonder-working power of Jesus, the heavens descended with the bliss of a drizzle as though to engage in the celebration.
One of the speakers observed, “There was enough joy in the campus that could spill over to other parts of the world.” All daily activities were centered around the theme: Faith on the Move! Doug Corlew, John Mitcham, Jim and Brian ministered the word. There were confessions, intercessions, commitments and challenges to move forward.

The beautiful Immanuel campus served as the venue for this 4 –day celebration which began in the afternoon of November 18.  265 smiling children of Immanuel Home also participated in special events of the day.  A banquet was organized for the children on the last night. New clothes were given to children for their Christmas wear.  To God be the glory! (A detailed pictorial report is sent through email to all those who are on our mailing list).

FREE EYE CAMPS TO

SERVE THE POOR

A free Eye Camp was organized in the Immanuel campus, Hyderabad for the participants of our national staff conference. Hundreds of delegates from across the country had their eyes examined by Optometrist Jonathan and his team and received medicine and eye glasses for free. Similar camps were also set up at Tarigopala and Matya Tanda respectively on 22nd and 23rd of November 2009. At least 1600 people turned up at these free eye camps.

THE DREAM PROJECT

The Lord is showing us a dream project to help at least 50,000 people in a place called Gollaguddem. It would be a medical project.

This project will start as a medical clinic and develop into a hospital some day. The clinic is going to be located in Gollaguddem, 50 km. north east of Hyderabad. There is no medical facility in the vicinity. There are 30 villages around this place with a population of about 50,000. Most inhabitants are field laborers. They labor for daily wages in agriculture farms, poultry, brick factories, etc. With a meager hand-to-mouth income, most everybody cannot afford to travel to Hyderabad for treatment at exorbitant down-cash payment. You may be aware that 95% of Indian population does not have medical insurances.

People suffer from easily preventable diseases like cold, cough, fever, indigestion, etc. Due to lack of medical attention within their reach, a cobra-bitten child may die before it can be moved to a hospital or a malaria-affected patient may not realize the impact of the disease until the virus has damaged his brain and pushed him close to death. Thousands of poor and suffering people in the area will benefit from this project greatly.

Initially, the project in Gollagudden will require a budget of $120,000 to build a clinic, Doctor's and Nurse's quarters and quarters for patients to stay for a day or two when they come from distant villages, a pathology center and to be able to buy some medical equipments. Funding the project will not just be a noble one but a goal-oriented, effectual service to the poverty-stricken populace.
